Summary |
As an undergraduate, I contemplated a career in journalism and was involved with the student newspapers. I wanted to live in the beguiling shadow of those female film icons with their trench coats and snappy rejoinders, working on the W5 — the who, what, when, where and why of a story.
OrH is settling into our “where,” growing our “who,” and contemplating some more “what” and “when.” The big story, now, is “why.”
Who we are and what we do are surely important — and letting people know about us and our activities is something all members can be engaged in, no matter the calendar and schedule. But, to what end?
Why ARE we OrH? What are our values? We certainly ARE special, but … how? Can we all come to a point where we articulate our specific raison-d’etre with the same phrases, rooted in values we all share?
Read this: tinyurl.com/orhrabbi. Tell me what you think our “why” should say. Talk amongst yourselves.
And come greet some new and prospective members this motzei Shabbat (end of Shabbat) for havdalah, snacks and conversations. Share your “why!”
