Foundations of Jewish Living, a program of the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning, starts this September at the Soloway Jewish Community Centre.
The course, Thursday evenings beginning September 12, is specifically designed for parents and provides an opportunity for them to enrich their own Jewish education and learn about Jewish life in the context of parenting.
Drawing on a range of texts - from the Bible to PJ Library books - the program consists of in-person sessions, each focused on themes connected to Jewish holidays or key figures in Jewish life. Course is $150 (subsidies available). Register at meltonschool.org

*The Zelikovitz Centre at Carleton University is hosting a public lecture by Professor Frances Malino, the Sophia Moses Robison Professor of Jewish Studies and History Emerita at Wellesley College. The title of the talk is Jewish Voices: Muslim Lands and it will be Sunday, September 22 at 7 pm in Room 303 of Paterson Hall. Complimentary light refreshments to follow.
*Rosh Hashanah (and other) Tribute Cards are available from the Ottawa Jewish Community Foundation. Elegant cards can express a heartfelt Mazel Tov for a wedding, an anniversary or birthday, or condolences during difficult times. This goes double for Rosh Hashanah, a time when we are urged to reflect on the past year, on the highs and lows, and ask whether or not we will be inscribed into the Book of Life. So please consider wishing family and friends a G'mar Chatima Tovah with a Tribute Card that shows how much you care and helps our community thrive. Please contact Nathaniel Finestone at tributecards@ojcf.ca or call 613-798-4696, ext. 274.
