* The next "Chanting and Chocolate" – a monthly evening of sacred chanting with uplifting music and deep spiritual intention to open the heart and connect with the Divine – takes place Monday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Temple Israel, 1301 Prince of Wales Dr. OrH member Lorne will be joined by Ottawa musicians Joel Yan, Aditi Magdalena and Corinne Baumgarten. Tea and home-baked, triple-chocolate brownies will be served after the chant. All are welcome, Jewish or not. No Hebrew knowledge is required. We will supply chant sheets. $10 suggested donation. Jewish Galicia: Vibrant Past Rediscovered. Speaker Andrew Zalewski brings to life the Jewish community of Galicia between the years 1772-1918. His personal genealogical discoveries are intertwined with a larger historical context to provide a story of many contrasts: poverty mixes with opportunities and separateness with acculturation.
