Schmooze ‘n Learn - Conversations about Truth and Reconciliation

Sunday, 13 February, 2022 12 Adar I 5782

10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Nancy Dyson and Dan Rubenstein speak about horrific experiences as childcare workers at an Indigenous residential school in 1970, and its implications now that the unmarked graves of children have been revealed.  Their book, St. Michael’s Residential School was released in 2021. It is available at independent bookstores, Chapters/Indigo and Amazon.

Chief Doctor Robert Joseph, founder and ambassador for Reconciliation Canada, has asked Dyson and Rubenstein to promote conversations about Reconciliation.  They will share their story and the insights they’ve gained from conversations with Canadians from various faiths and civic organizations, as well as individual readers.   Their on-line presentation will be half an hour and followed by an opportunity for participants to comment and ask questions.

Dyson and Rubenstein are published authors.  Their first work, Railroad of Courage, a work of youth fiction, was published by Ronsdale Press in 2017.  St. Michael’s Residential School:  Lament & Legacy is available at independent book stores, Chapters stores and on Amazon.  They are donating royalties and honorariums to the IRSSS, the Indian Residential School Society, Reconciliation Canada and other support groups for Survivors.

Nancy is a retired early childhood educator.  Dan was an auditor with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada.   They live in Ottawa and enjoy spending time at their lake-side cottage, especially when their three adult children and nine grandchildren are able to visit.   You can visit their web site at:  Dan Rubenstein & Nancy Dyson – Published Authors (rubenstein-dyson.com).
