Shavuot - Healing Together
Saturday, 19 May, 2018 • 5 Sivan 5778
9:30 PM - 11:00 PMKehillat Beth Israel, 1400 Coldrey AveJoin us for a joint Tikkun Leil Shavuot in partnership with Temple Israel and Kehillat Beth Israel. The evening will consist of a communal evening service for the Shavuot festival and parallel learning sessions.
We will celebrate Shavuot with a deep dive into the Torah of Healing.
We’ll sing and pray and learn. Included in the program will be this workshop offered by Rabbi Liz:
Towards the End of Life's Journey: Deep listening through texts, songs, and stories about life and death, grief and healing
Stories are the beginning of meaning-making. Listening is the most consistent and powerful healing tool, the one least likely to do harm. Singing and chanting can access layers of emotion and release spiritual pain. We’ll use traditional texts to evoke personal stories and clarify values, belief and meaning. Experience how text, stories and song can support deep listening and refu’at hanefesh/healing of spirit.
