7:00 PM - 9:30 PMMessage Coordinator

For the past seven years, Jordan Siegel has been a photojournalist residing in Israel. Her extensive experience in the Middle East includes travel to regions such as Iraq, Afghanistan along the Syrian border, Sudan, and South Sudan. Much of her work has been centered in the West Bank, spanning occupied territories like Nablus, Ramallah, and Hebron. Additionally, she is an investigative researcher, notably uncovering details about the late Isis leader, al-Baghdadi, prior to his assassination by US forces. Presently, she is delving into investigative research on corruption within defense sectors across the Middle East and North Africa, studying its ties to the rising extremism in the region.

In her upcoming discussion, Jordan will share her personal journey navigating some of the world's most perilous countries as a Jewish American living in Israel, elucidating the lessons learned from her experiences. She plans to shed light on the corruption she's encountered during her research, revealing threats to Israel's security amid the surge in extremism. She will also share her latest documentary, "The Shopkeeper," set in Sudan, which chronicles the aftermath of the Darfur conflict and explores the Abraham Accords between Israel and prominent leaders in Sudan. Concluding her lecture, she will review the ongoing situation between Israel and Hamas, examining the devastating October 7 attack, humanitarian crises in Gaza, the precarious nature of Israel's extreme government, and the persisting tensions in the occupied West Bank.
