Selichot
Saturday, September 16, 2017
7:30 PM - 10:00 PM, Fellowship Hall of Unitarians
“MOtTs & MOoTs: Jewish observance with members of THE tribe, and members of OTHER tribes." Selichot is the evening service that previews the melodic as well as conceptual themes of the high holy days, and invites us all to enter this period of personal spiritual preparations as a community. We’ll begin our evening with a screening of Jewish-ly inflected episodes of television shows that explore a search for personal, religious and cultural identity. After discussion and refreshments, the brief service that follows foreshadows the music of Yom Kippur, and conclude with the sounding of the shofar. Bring a dessert to share.
