Mapping the Siddur - Becoming a Service Maven

Saturday, 20 February, 2016 11 Adar I 5776

1:00 PM - 2:00 PMRoom 5, lower level

Five sessions from 1:00 - 2:00 pm (following kiddush lunch) on January 16, February 6, February 20, March 5 and March 19. Arrive whenever you like up to the 1:00 start time.

Develop your prayer and liturgy muscles by orienting yourself to the terrain of the prayer book. Rabbi Liz will be our tour guide through the basics of the siddur, and then we’ll spread out and explore some of the emendations in a variety of contemporary Jewish prayer books. After these five sessions, you’ll have a road map available for your own further explorations into both personal prayer and communal worship.

If you own any of these, please bring them to class:
The Complete ArtScroll Siddur: Weekday/Sabbath/Festival (Ashkenaz)
Daily Prayer Book/Siddur Hashalem, Philip Birnbaum, Hebrew Publishing Co.
Siddur Sim Shalom, Sabbath, Festivals, Weekdays
Mishkan T’filah: Weekdays, Shabbat, Festivals
